As regards its settings, "The Family" is a very straightforward film. There are two main scenes, 1971 and 2003, of which the majority of the story takes place in 1971.
About 70% of the scenes take place indoors, and about 30% take place out-of-doors. Of the indoor 70% of the scenes, 50% take place at John and Ellen's house, significantly reducing the location expenditure.
My personal preferences: the Romanian actor Maia Morgenstern for the main role of Ellen, the mother; Jeremy Irons for the main role of the father, John; Anthony Hopkins as James, the owner of the pub. Bono from U2 to sing the title song.
